Hemp tattoo

Tattoos are essentially second degree skin burns with the dye as an added irritant. A tattoo on your skin is an irritation that your body will naturaly treat as a wound.

Redness, swelling and weeping will occur as this is your body’s way of clearing bacteria and foreign bodies from the wound. Weeping will push the ink out of your tattoo and scabs appear, and this in turn will cause ink loss.

It is at this stage that our Hempiness Organic Pure Hemp Essential Oil can help you with its strong anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that typically lead to reduced scabbing while the tattood skin heals. Less scabbing mean less itchyness and less ink loss.

Aromatherapy and tattoo care

Hemp essential oil (Cannabis Sativa L.) is a truly holistic oil that works on both a physical and emotional level and offers a wide range of health enhancing benefits.

Produced exclusively from the flowers of female or hermaphrodite plants by low-pressure steam distillation, it requires 50lbs of flowers to produce 20ml (1oz) of pure oil. Also this 100% pure organic Hempiness Hemp Essential Oil is not hempseed oil which is a product obtained from the pressed seeds of the common hemp plant. Hemp is especially suited for protracted and chronic health problems and pains. Its properties include:

  • Creates feelings of tranquility and peace
  • Extremely relaxing and anti-spasmodic
  • Stress-relieving, good for insomnia
  • Anti-inflammatory and reduces swelling
  • Alleviates skin irritations & allergic reaction
  • Beneficial for respiratory tract problems/infections
  • Relieves asthma, hay fever, sinusitis
  • Boosts energy, optimism & confidence
  • Reduces nervousness, fear and apprehension
  • Holistic: Opening, releasing, balancing and uplifting
  • Hormone balancing: regulates female hormone system

Therapeutic properties: anti-inflammatory (reduces swelling and alleviates muscular stiffness and spasms), anti-allergenic (great for eczema, hormone-balancing), good for PMS (reduces painful cramps with less emotional distress), stress relieving, good for insomnia, psychologically opening, releasing and stabilising. Also helps nervousness, insomnia and creates a feeling of inner peace.

How to use essential oils on skin

Essential oils like Cannabis Sativa L interact with the body through the nose and are also absorbed through the skin. There are many ways to use essential oils, but these are the three that work well on skin contact and in tattoo after care:

Essential oils can be used in a bath both for therapy and pleasure! Use up to eight drops of your chosen essential oil or blend. Run the bath as usual, and add the essential oil (or mixture) to the water.

A compress is a clean, damp, folded cloth that has been infused with essential oils and is then applied to the problem area. A compress can be either cold or warm, depending on the purpose. Fill a small bowl with water, add 2-5 drops of essential oil. Stir briskly, soak the cloth, wring, and apply. Repeat this procedure as needed.

Foot and Hand Bath
Use 2-4 drops of your chosen essential oil in a bowl of water. Cool water revives, and warm water relaxes.

Balmonds Skin Salvation

This natural and gentle beeswax based healing balm works wonders on tattoos. Described by tattoo artist James Conway as “the best suited product for tattoo aftercare on the market today!” he says “I have never seen tattoos heal as quick and bright.”.

First created as a solution for dry skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis, this cream is loved for its healing and moisturising properties. It works by forming a protective breathable layer which works as a barrier over the fresh ink. This keeps the top layer of skin safe from external irritants, thereby reducing itchiness and encouraging the tattoo to heal. Hempseed oil and beeswax have natural antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, making it the perfect choice for thos wanting a natural tattoo aftercare solution.
